Bright – a summer destination
Summer is not just for the beach-goers. Our rivers, lakes and waterholes make Bright a very popular summer destination.
Rivers and Lakes – The Ovens River, Buckland River, Morses Creek, Lake Catani and Lake Buffalo are all nearby, offering natural pools, swimming nooks, picnic facilities, walking tracks and fishing opportunities. The Harrietville Trout and Salmon farm ensures a sure-catch. The Ovens and Buckland Rivers still holds the glitter of gold for those willing to go fossicking.
Waterfalls – We are surrounded by spectacular waterfalls:- Buffalo National Park, Lady Bath Falls, Eurobin Falls, Rollasons Falls and Dicksons Falls and Fainter Falls (this one requires a drive to the Bogong High Plains Road between Mount Beauty and Falls Creek).
River Swimming Pools
- the Porepunkah River Pool is created between Christmas and Easter each year as a long, cool river swimming pool. A lifeguard is on duty most afternoons during summer. There is a children’s paddling pool on the river banks nearby and free BBQ facilities and picnic tables.
- the Centenary Park River Pool exists from the damning of the Ovens River between Christmas and Easter. A lifeguard is on duty most afternoon during summer. The Bright Splash Park is located next to the Bright River Pool and the Rotary waterslide operates in the afternoons during summer.
